BOB AND CAMILLE MAKING THEMSELVES AT HOME

CAMILLE’S FILLY FRIEND

Chantilly, a 5-year-old Quarter Horse mare is ready to play on October 10th.

This color is called Blood Bay. The woman with Chantilly is Marion, her “mom.” The two of us can be found brushing and loving on  Chantilly on most Friday afternoons.

OPEN MIC NIGHT, October 12

Laura on vocals, her mother, Christine on bass and Camille’s brother, Michael, on lead guitar in a local coffee shop on a Wednesday night, playing for free.

Bob and Camille relax in the back room before the show.

A BUBBLING SPRING

Bob’s pretty water feature puts a little moisture in the air on a dry day.

OCTOBER 16 – A BRIGHT, FALL DAY

STROLLING COFFEE

Every day starts with a cup of coffee from our French Press. On this beautiful day, we took our cups through the parking lot to the post office where Bob scans the morning headlines, and then over to the grocery store.

Fall is undeniably here in the form of bright maples and falling leaves. We love to walk along this town’s inviting tree-lined streets.

GOLD IN THE FIELD

As the sun climbs in the sky, it highlights this cornfield against snow-capped mountains.

HARVEST MOON

At the end of the day, Camille captured the nearly-full moon, rising over the train depot.

COOKIE

Always cooking up something – this time it’s salad dressing. Some things to notice in our kitchen: A cool, efficient and seldom-used dishwasher, some really nice cabinetry, homemade bread, and a bowl of vine- ripened tomatoes from a nearby backyard.

HARD AT WORK

Steve—using his drywall skills—and Eric created a laboratory for RMBI by making a new wall.

Eric puts on the finishing touches.

ANOTHER WEDNESDAY NIGHT – October 26

We enjoyed hearing original music so much that when Michael invited us to another Open Mic Night, we
happily took him up on it. Mike played for 90 minutes and then sat down to watch this woman and others play their creations.

HALLOWEEN

And time to party. Bob and Camille went as pirates with 3 machetes between them. Bob carries one of them in his teeth to leave his hands free for his bottle of Grog, which is rum mixed with water. 7-year-old Nicaraguan Flor de Cana, in this case. Camille couldn’t find a parrot for her shoulder, so she is using a pink beanie-baby flamingo. For more, go to Halloween, Berthoud Style

Why did we decide to dress up as pirates? We did it because statistics show a direct correlation between the decline of pirates and the increase in global warming. Therefore, helping bring back piratism is the least we can do to mitigate the damage to our atmosphere. This, and other beliefs are being taught by the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

THIS MONTH’S QUOTES:

In case you haven’t noticed, as the result of a shamelessly rigged election in Florida, in which thousands of African Americans were arbitrarily disenfranchised, we now present ourselves to the rest of the world as proud, grinning, jut-jawed, pitiless war-lovers with appallingly powerful weaponry – who stand unopposed.

In case you haven’t noticed, we are now as feared and hated all over the world as the Nazis once were. And with good reason. – Excerpt from “A Man Without a Country” by Kurt Vonnegut

“Free trade means big U.S. and European corporations gobbling up our companies and national interests.”

– Pedro Moreira, a 69-year-old unemployed Argentine carrying a sign reading, “Get out Bush. Another world is possible” in protest of George W. Bush’s arrival in Argentina November, 2005 to push for free trade in South America.
