THE THIRTY-NINTH FLOOR

BOOTH WITH A VIEW

.

After our first day at the conference, we met Lyle, Leif and Rachel in the cocktail lounge on the 39th floor of the Marriot in downtown San Francisco.   They had gotten there early to secure the best seat in the room. The elevator button is timed so that you can't get to the top until 4:00pm sharp. Bob, Lyle, and Leif checked the stair access at 3:55pm and were stymied by hotel SOP to keep the stairway access door locked as well.

We ordered up some beer and wine and proceeded to watch the sun go down over The City.

The four of us got in some heavy duty unwind time as well as some silliness and a little bit of philosophical discussion.  We seldom get to relax together like this at home because we are generally spinning off in different directions, working to create that wonderful utopia we call sustainable community.

After a couple of hours of our own company, we were joined by others from the Sustainable Biodiesel Summit, including Emily one of the Summit's co-founders.  The sun went down and we all walked to dinner a few blocks away at the Thirsty Bear.
