A NUCLEAR HIKE AT SHEARON HARRIS
YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING
We promised ourselves we'd go hiking at least once a month. This month's destination was Harris Lake. There is a nice Frisbee Golf course nearby and we thought it was time we checked out the hiking trails.
The fact that this park is located near a nuclear plant makes the hike more interesting. We were sure we'd see a three-eyed fish or a five-legged frog. But we didn't. What we did see was hikers with their kids and their dogs . Apparently a nuclear plant is a good place for nuclear families to hike. At Shearon Harris, the family that hikes together glows together.
POLLEN
The pines are in full flower and the pollen is everywhere. It lays in streaks on the surface of the lake.
Pollen piles up on the bank and pools beneath the root balls of displaced trees.
DOG WOOD
Another harbinger of spring, the dogwood was abloom everywhere.
POISON IVY
Beware the red-haired vines for they predict a nasty rash.
