EVOLUTION OF A HOME

From the house formerly known as "Yellow" to home

September, 2009 to December, 2009

A WHOLE LOT A WORKING GOING' ON

Three months ago, we began work on the inside of the house we planned to make our own.  We hired contractors to paint and install flooring and cabinets.  We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, moved furniture and debris out and figured out how to run the fireplace.

DINING ROOM

This room was in pretty good shape.  We removed yards of drapery, pulled nails and staples, cleaned the mirrors, vacuumed mouse dirt out of the cabinets, and added a transition strip to the gap in the linoleum.

OFFICE

This room smelled a lot better after the flooring guys ripped out the damp, stained carpet and replaced it with a laminate floor.

KITCHEN

The kitchen needed a lot of work before the appraiser would give the bank what they needed to give us the loan.  Here it is with new cabinets, linoleum and lighting.

KITCHEN FLOOR

We hand scrubbed the stains from the kitchen floor and covered the gaps in the old linoleum to pass the re-appraisal.  After we got our loan, we had the floor replaced and the island removed.

MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom needed paint to qualify.  Bob had the carpet professionally steam cleaned and installed pretty new wooded blinds.

MASTER BATH

Again, paint - the cupboards and trim were unfinished.  Bob replaced both sinks.

Bob also replaced the stool.

GUEST BEDROOM

This room had to be repainted to make the appraiser happy.  We had the carpet steam cleaned.

STORAGE ROOM

The second spare bedroom was to become our storage room/work room/ spare bedroom.  We had the carpet cleaned, painted the walls and washed the windows.

SECOND BATH

The floor and wall needed to be rebuilt so we exchanged this tub for a new shower.

The new toilet sits on the new floor.  Jim's crew did a great job on this room!

BACK HALL

The back hall got new linoleum and touch up paint.
