OUT ON THE PRAIRIE, AGAIN

BOB AND CAMILLE in search of the Jim Morrison House

May 7, 2006

BUT FIRST WE FOUND A FEW OF THESE:

Ever wonder what a missile silo looks like?  It looks like heavy duty fencing, electricity, Keep Out signs and so on.  This one is labeled N-11.  There are 27,000 of these buried weapons of mass destruction on the planet just waiting for an itchy finger to detonate them.

AND THEN WE FOUND IT

We call this the Jim Morrison House because someone had written "Jim Morrison Lives" on the side.  Click on the picture for a closer look.  Looks like this wall has been getting a lot of target practice since we last saw it.

BOB'S RENDITION OF THE JIM MORRISON HOUSE

This is a watercolor he painted from a photograph ten years ago.

The house from the back yard, so to speak.

And from the side.

THEN WE DECIDED TO PUT ON OUR JACKETS AND GO FOR A HIKE

Do we look cold?  That's because we were!

REAL PURTY, THEY WERE

We hiked up to the buttes.

IT STARTS

I know, I know - Aren't we ever going get tired of taking windmill and wildflower pictures?  But, wait! These flowers are by a YUCCA PLANT!

CAMILLE LOOKS FOR SOMETHING

We have no idea what.

AND BOB POINTS SOMETHING OUT

"This here is a stick out" he seemed to say.  Actually, what Bob is pointing out is the difference a fence makes.  For a long time, there was a fence here with cattle on the right.  Although the fence has been removed, the landscape still shows the wear from those hungry teeth.
