CAMILLE'S BIRTHDAY
In which Bob, Mom, Dad and Shirley help her celebrate 52 years on the planet
JUNE, 2006
IT ALL STARTED HERE, DEAR
With a surprise package in the mail. It wasn't surprising that Camille should receive a birthday present from her parents because they always remember her birthday. The surprise came when Camille opened the box before her birthday, something she generally doesn't do and discovered these precious, unwrapped deer. In the past Mom has always wrapped, but this time, the gift was shipped directly from the manufacturer.
AND THEN...
Shirley proposed a trip to the aquarium.
OH YES
We thought this was a capital idea! A nice opportunity to spend some time with Shirley and see some coral reef and its inhabitants. It had been nearly a year since we went snorkeling.
LOUNGING
Our first stop was the aquarium lounge for some gin and tonics. If we were going to join the fresh-out-of-school-for-the-summer crowd, we needed to reduce our I.Q.s a little.
TROUT
One of the first fish to catch Bob's eye was the trout.
PACU
This vegetarian relative of the piranha looks exactly like the pacu we used to keep as a pet.
LIONFISH
A very poisonous fish, the Lionfish proves the fact that in nature, the most brilliantly colored animals are often the most dangerous.
SEA HORSES
Shirley and Camille couldn't stop watching these fascinating creatures.
THROW IN SOME CORAL,
JELLYFISH AND ANEMONES
The picture begins to resemble a kaleidoscope.
COLORS GALORE
We wondered if someone had painted these colors on the fish.
AND PATTERNS SUBLIME
Just mind-boggling, that nature thing.
ALL THAT AND REPTILES, TOO!
Turtles are sweet but snakes make my feet beat a retreat.
THEN OUT ONTO THE STREET
We walked two miles along the river, arriving at a shuttle which took us across the mall.
A FEW BLOCKS LATER
We arrived at a vegetarian restaurant where we ordered a scrumptious lunch.
TWO DAYS LATER...
Bob surprised Camille with a new red dress and a carrot cake. Birthdays are great!
