GETTYSBURG ON A COLD WINTER'S DAY

In which, Bob and Camille join their hosts, Aphia and Michael for a tromp around the old battlefield.

February 22, 2007

IT WAS A COLD DAY

But we needed to get out and stretch our legs and this was the place to do it.

The brisk wind made it even colder.

STARK AND QUIET

I think this is the perfect weather for remembering the dead.  On the right, is the green granite Irish Brigade Monument, with its life-size Irish wolfhound.

AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY

Especially when the sun came out and highlighted the many hues of the landscape.

Full of stately trees, hovering over war relics like these cannons.

Camille loved the old fences and has long thought of making a collection of fence photographs.

ANY WALK OUTSIDE IS A GOOD WALK

This is evident from the smiles on Aphia's and Michael's faces.

And the similar smiles from Bob and Camille.

Aunt Camille and niece Aphia, have a strong resemblance to each other.

A CLUMSY NIGHT ON THE TOWN

After our walk on the battlefields, we walked over to an Italian Restaurant.  A moment after Bob snapped the picture of us walking down the stairs, Michael tripped and nearly fell down.  At the restaurant, the rest of us took turns spilling our drinks.  Aphia showed off her Joan of Arc tee shirt.

THIS IS WHAT MICHAEL DOES

He lines up three computer monitors and maps out radio waves or something to that effect.
