A FEW NICE DAYS IN SAN ANTONIO

The pleasure side of Bob and Camille's trip to San Antonio for the Annual Sustainable Biodiesel Summit and the National Biodiesel Conference.

February 3 - 8, 2007

 

DINNER AT STEPHANIE'S

Stephanie invited us to dinner the night we arrived in San Antonio from Denton for the Biodiesel Summit and Conference.  Stephanie and Camille have exchanged over 1,000 emails over the year and a half since they met on Little Corn Island, Nicaragua.

We found Stephanie's home to be a showcase of wonderful finds and very comfortable for lounging.

 

STEPHANIE'S PRIDE AND JOY

A Gold, 1969 Camaro.

Somehow, Camille lucked into a thrilling ride up the highway in this beast with Stephanie at the wheel.

Here she is, the Car Babe, in the parking lot of a local park.

Camille takes her turn at Car Babe.  Notice, how Stephanie managed to get the Whole Car in the picture, while Camille did not, showing which one of us is the REAL Car Babe.

 

DINOSAUR PRINTS

Stephanie points to a print, cast in concrete from the original fossil prints found in this park.

Of course, we had to take turns standing under the sign.

 

A TASTE OF OLD TEXAS

Finally, I began to get a sense of what Texas was all about.

 

FOSSIL HUNTING BY THE CREEK

 

Stephanie has a sharp eye for tiny fossils.

The cypress roots were fascinating.

And comfortable!  Camille could have lounged on them all day!

 

RIVER WALK

Back in town, the next day, Camille found the River Walk to be a good way to stretch her legs.

The River Walk is an easy way to get from one part of town to another or just find a nice place to eat or shop.  Michael took Gary, Bob, Camille, Charlie and Jane out for dinner at a restaurant along the river walk one evening.

 

ALAMO

After dinner, we walked over to the Alamo and Charlie made himself into a ghost for our entertainment.  Look for Charlie's ghost in the lower right section of the picture.  To his left, Bob is crouching down in front of the old fort, taking pictures, too.

 

BOTANICAL GARDENS

 

Complete with cactus and palms,

old homesteads (which Camille could see herself settling into)

ducks, turtles (far right, sunning themselves)
