TROUTS LATEST PHOTOS

February, 2007 - Issue #69

Bob and Camille, those traveling fools, rack up 9,276 air miles flying around the United States.

21 YEARS AGO - ROCHESTER, NEW YORK 1986

Darla and John (the oldest of Camille's five younger brothers)  have now been married 33 years and operate a portrait studio out of their home in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.  They lived in Rochester for 15 years before moving back to Pennsylvania.

FRY LAB

While on a trip to Denton, Bob checked out the laboratory where they, well - fry stuff.  After which, of course, someone has to eat it.

DRIVING FROM DENTON TO SAN ANTONIO

We flew to San Antonio on January 30, and drove five hours north to Denton, so that Bob could stand in for Charlie at the Biodiesel Plant there.  That Saturday, we drove back to San Antonio for the Sustainable Biodiesel Summit and National Biodiesel Conference.  Bob took a slight detour to show me this huge home outside of Denton.

AN EVENING AT STEPHANIE'S

After dropping our bags at the Bed and Breakfast, we went to Stephanie's home for dinner.  We met Stephanie while on Little Corn Island and have been emailing ever since.

SUSTAINABLE BIODIESEL SUMMIT

The next day, we went to the Sustainable Biodiesel Summit whereBob gave a talk about testing fuel using a Gas Chromatograph, as a toucan flitted about outside the window.

FOSSIL HUNTING ALONG A TEXAS CREEK

That afternoon, Stephanie took Camille on a nice outing.  There are more pictures of their afternoon on this page: San Antonio

NATIONAL BIODIESEL CONFERENCE

The Convention Center was only a 15-minute walk from the Brackenridge House bed and breakfast.

To get to the convention from the B&B, we just headed for the Hemisfair Tower next to the center.  Charlie and Jane stayed at the Brackenridge House, too and sometimes, we would all walk over together.

SAN ANTONIO BOTANICAL GARDENS

After the Convention was over, it was time to fly home.  A nice thing to do before getting on a jet, is spend a few hours outside, strolling through some Botanical Gardens, which is what we did!  More photos here: A Visit to San Antonio

HOME FOR ONE NIGHT

Sharon shares a glass of wine and a laugh with us in our apartment.  Mahlon was also helping us celebrate, but we didn't get much more than his left leg into this picture.

LOOKING FOR CHEESE

Grace came over to look for some cheese.

LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA

And then it was time for Camille's two-week trip to Pennsylvania to see her mother.  A trip, Bob affectionately refers to as her "Hero's Journey."  Camille's brother, Bob picked her up at the airport and brought her to his home in Lancaster for a couple of nights before Deb drove her to Shippensburg.  Bob and Deb have a beautiful home in a woodsy neighborhood.

MOM IN HER ROOM

Mom has begun to find her pureed diet laughable.  Fortunately, she graduated to firmer food within a day or so.  Although Mom may have to wear her "Halo" until April, she is obviously keeping her sense of humor.  We were amazed at how her progress in Physical Therapy.  By the time we left, she had already begun walking with the help of parallel bars.

FAMILY NIGHT

John and Darla (remember them from the top of the page?) hosted a large group of family for dinner a couple of times during my stay at their home.  From left to right, Top: Alana, Charity, Jason, Levi, Brandon, Micah, Johanna, John and Darla.  Bottom: Aphia, Camille and Michael.  For more pictures of this trip, go to A Visit with the Pennsylvanians

PINEAL STIMULATION

Meanwhile, Bob, Amy and Emily spent a nice afternoon together, walking around the University of Colorado - Boulder campus, taking in in some sunshine and having a bite to eat.

APHIA AND MICHAEL

After Bob arrived in Pennsylvania, we drove to Gettysburg for an afternoon/evening with Aphia and Michael.  Despite the cold weather, we all agreed a nice walk outside was in order, so they took us out to the Old Battlefield.

UNDERCOVER ART

Bob took advantage of his time in Pennsylvania to visit Matt Steinman ("farmer") at Dickinson College in Carlisle to see what he was up to with his "appleseed" biodiesel processor. He found this piece of art beneath a tarp and couldn't resist snapping her photo.

DISMANTLING THE PLANT

Most of the month, Bob, Steve and Rob worked hard to Dismantle the Berthoud Biodiesel Plant.

VENTURA, CALIFORNIA

We flew home from Pennsylvania together, spent one night in our bed and Bob went to California the next day for a couple of days of business meetings.  This was the view from his hotel room on Ventura Beach.
