A TASTE OF BIG CITY CULTURE

CATCHING A TRAIN

Denver's light rail is quick and easy.

Before you know it, you are being whisked away!

With plenty of time to yak, yak, yak.

BOB ON THE STREET

Sunday morning is a great time to catch the city with all of its interesting art.  Even this grate around a growing tree looked like art to us.  Not to mention its functional side.  As the tree grows, the metal rings can be removed.

Too bad they didn't do this in our little walking town where they took out some huge trees and replaced them with saplings but didn't fill in the holes around the trees.  Our friend, Sharon tripped into one of these holes and broke her foot, leaving Camille without a walking partner for her last two weeks before moving south.

BARELY ABLE TO CONTAIN OURSELVES

Obviously, this giant blue bear captured our imagination.  Bob stands beside it for scale.

The bear had its nose pressed up against the glass.  Honestly, the image was mesmerizing!  We could barely tear ourselves away.

NO TELLING

Sometimes public art gives you nothing else to say beyond, "huh..."

FROM THE CAPITAL BUILDING

With its gold plated dome.

TO THE HOMELESS

With their shopping carts and sleeping bags, a couple of blocks away.  A nice illustration for the widening gap between the rich and the poor in this country.  We noticed this group were savvy enough to hang out on the south side of the buildling.  As we were leaving town, an ambulance pulled up to this spot and loaded up a woman who was in distress.

TO THE COURTHOUSE

There is something extremely comforting about a public clock with the correct time.  It shows that the government cares.   Well, at least they care enough to allow the homeless to take shelter on the warm side of the municipal buildings and send ambulances when needed.

BIG, SKY SCRAPING ART

Found outside the Art Museum.

This is really great stuff - whether it appeals to your eye or not, you have to admit it definitely is eye-catching.

CLOSING IN ON OUR DESTINATION

Camille and Shirley approach the new addition to the museum.  Camille asked Bob to take a picture of her standing beside one of her favorite things - a broom.

VERTIGO

Once we got inside the building, Shirley pointed out that this is not a good place for someone with vertigo.
