All those years we lived in the tropics we heard from northerners that they wouldn’t want to live without the seasons, especially Spring. And while at least for us, we easily reveled in the nuances of tropical seasons, it’s true, Spring is a glorious event after a long, cold winter when nothing green can be seen. Spring is very much like that golden moment when you stop banging your head against the wall. Spring is sweet relief.
PEAR BLOSSOMS
Nothing is as beautiful as the promise of fresh fruit in the Fall.
THE TWO SIDES OF BOB
Nurturer and destroyer. Being a Libra, Bob is capable of lovingly tending his container gardens and ruthlessly pruning the red tips.
A BIT OF A DRAG
It had to be done but when all was finished there were quite a few branches to drag off to the brush pile.
PROMISES
The azaleas made a fine show of it but the peonies strung us along all month with unopened buds.
SOCHAN CORRECTED
We hear it’s good to eat. When we left for Africa it was a nice patch of sunflowers. After our return, it had taken over the whole south side of the garage and part of the lawn. So we dug out the rocks and dug it all out to plant potatoes. The photo on the right is after we trimmed it all back and dug out the rocks.
WE’LL CALL THIS GARDEN A VIBRANT SUCCESS
The irises took and the mondo grass filled in the corner. This garden is now beautiful, low maintenance, deer proof and incredibly fragrant.
Here’s how it looked at installation in 2010, when our deer proof corner garden was just a concept.
BOB AND CAMILLE’S DELIGHT
Salad and potatoes – life doesn’t get any better than this!

Peppers (nine varieties) and eggplant. Hope we’re not making you too hungry!

Have we mentioned how nice it is to be home?
