Visiting family, celebrating Camille’s birthday, partying with our old neighbors, catching the rose virus, harvesting garden abundance and playing around at work all in one great month!

BIRTHDAY BRAUDS

20150604CookieCake  20150607StephanieWombatBDay

Camille ate cake and Steph cuddled a giant wombat on their respective birthday’s June 4th and 8th.

A LAUGHING MATTER

Sometimes the first wish that comes to mind is laughable, but one must button down that smile long enough to pucker up and blow out the candles.

OILSEED REUNION

20150601LyleTamiBob  20150613SimonMattTamiJessicaDana

It wasn’t really an Oilseed Community reunion but when we saw Simon and Jessica at Matt and Dana’s Engagement Party, it sure felt like old times. More photos at: Matt and Dana’s Engagement Party

POSSUM AT THE FEEDER

20150621Possum

This poor bedraggled critter catching an easy meal underneath the bird feeder looked so cute Camille had to stalk it with the camera, causing it to limp across the yard, squeeze through the fence and crawl into a muddy pipe in the ditch.

CRAZY ABOUT FOOD

20150620Manicotti  20150616Baklava

Tofu and spinach manicotti, vegan cheez and baked summer squash with ‘parmesan’ and bread crumbs and baklava from Angelina’s Kitchen.

THEN THE RAINS CAME

20150625RainBarrel  20150627GravelWashFireDept

It rained so hard the last couple of days in June that a river of water flowed down the Moncure-Pittsboro Road, bringing enough debris to create a traffic hazard. The Fire Department had to block off the road and remove the gravel that had washed down from the Stump Dump.

THIS MONTH’S QUOTES:

“Throughout the rough years the Greek alphabet had leaked out of his mind a letter at a time – in fact, the candle of knowledge he had set out with had burned down to a sorry stub.” – Larry McMurtry from Lonesome Dove

“A sobering thought…” What if, right at this very moment, I *am* living up to my full potential?” – Jane Wagner

“It is a do-it-yourself era: health care, real estate, police investigation. Go online and f*ing figure it out for yourself because everyone’s overworked and understaffed.” – Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl
