The last day of our annual May family visit happened to be in June. – June 1, 2015
BITTERSWEET REUNION
Cousin Mark took Camille and her brothers to pay their respects to their grandparents, Frank and Helen. Although Joe and Jim have been to this grave, this was the first time for Camille and she found herself awash in emotion.
FRANK AND SHAWN
Our hosts Shawn and Frank always put on a great feed in their spacious home. On this chilly, drizzly evening they had a fire going in the den and the wine flowed.
We were joined by friends. Young Taylor was able to make the visit with Bob and Deb. Frank grilled a mountain of meat and veggies and the table was filled with delicious side dishes. Deb baked a killer apple pie and Jim brought fresh cookies. Shawn rescued this beautiful orchid from work.
WHITER SHADE OF PALE
The first time Camille heard Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale” was right here by the Windmill and Carvel on Ocean Boulevard in Long Branch on a white sky day just like this one. Every time she hears the song, she is transported to this very place.
PARTING SHOTS
A drive by Monmouth University where Camille’s father taught when it was still a college and then away over a shadowy suspension bridge towards DC.
