Fifteenth Annual Trail Crawl – Sunday March 29, 2015
THE MAP
FIRST STOP
Helen walked over to Abeyance with Camille and when they arrived at Megan’s house, they were greeted by a couple of cheerful blue bottle trees.
HOST OF THE WOODS
It was fitting we should come across a small herd of deer on the way to Megan’s because her career was in forestry. Breakfast food was the fare at Megans, including Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Megan had made a pesto using chickweed and creasy greens which captivated everyone and Camille tried not to get into too much trouble with the jelly beans. With Easter Sunday coming up the next weekend, Megan had decorated the house with bunnies and beautiful Easter eggs that she painted over the years.
THE PLANNERS
Susan and Camille were behind the planning this year. Everyone looks forward to Trail Crawl so it doesn’t take much effort to pull it together. After a while, we left Megan’s house and walked across Stinking Creek across Tami’s land.
CREEK CROSSING
No one fell in, not Helen or Janice or Joe.
SECOND STOP
Robert and Lauren (far right in the photo on the left) invited us in for more bunny-themed fare, drinks, guacamole and chips, etc. By now it was beginning to warm up, so we stood in the sun and talked about hoarding and other important stuff.
IT WAS A REDBUD DAY
Chris and Eric shared a drink under the red bud. Mrs. Robinson watched us as we wandered off to the next stop.
THIRD STOP
Tami and Lyle were our third stop hosts. Helen and Tami share a bit of hilarity while Ted and Jason chit chat. Susan and Haruka dip into the treats on the table of which the chocolalte/peanut butter/marshmallow treats were quick to disappear.
SPRING COLORS
Daffodils and hyacinth – what a great combination!
ON THE DECK
David tells MJ a thing or two while Megan, Tami and Helen gaze companionably into the pond.
SUNNY AND A LITTLE CHILLY
Although Ted wore shorts, the jackets that he, Jason and Mark are wearing belie the truth.
FOURTH STOP
Trouts Farm! That’s us and this is our astro-turfed back porch full of people dining on hummus, pitas, carrots, popcorn and cookies. Oh, and another round of mimosas.
GRAND FINALE
When Tami realized this was the fifteenth Trail Crawl, she felt a group photo was in order. Most of the 26 adults, 6 kids and 5 dogs made it into this photo taken by Hallie.
Some of the folks in this picture have made it to all 15 Crawls, but being newcomers to the neighborhood, we have only participated on four:
Trail Crawl #11 – 2011
Trail Crawl #12 – 2012
Trail Crawl #14 – 2014
