Sugar Shack Move

We had a shed that we wanted to move from one end of the property to another. An idea was hatched. If we had enough help, we could cut it loose and pick it up. After weeks of preparation, we set out to prove that “Many hands make heavy work possible.” – January 8, 2016

EAT FIRST

Before tackling the shed project, we shared a meal at Local Food Friday potluck lunch.

HEAVIER THAN IT LOOKS

As soon as these guys picked up the shed, they began searching for plan “B” or plan “J” as it turned out. They swung the shed around and Jules got his truck.

A crossbeam was installed at the height of the truck bed and the guys lifted the shed onto the truck but there wasn’t enough clearance between the bottom of the posts and the lawn.

Zafer and Grayson enjoy a break while Malcolm adds another beam. The team soon had the shed off the lawn.

MORE HORSEPOWER

Pavement means forklift! Malcolm installs another crossbeam so that forklift driver Bob can pick up the back end.

YOU WANT IT TO GO WHERE?

Bob stands on the shed’s final destination, a gravel pad at the top of a small hill. We were joined by Chef Bill and everyone is hanging in there, ready and willing.

FINAL PUSH

No truck or forklift, only manpower for the climb up the hill. A few more moments and the job will be done.

VICTORY!
