A fruitful month in many ways. We helped birth a conference, Amy came to visit with her new pup, young Nolan continues to flourish and we’re pushing the garden beds and bedding plants into frame for a new season.
AMUSE BOUCHE
The ladies of Abundance NC hosted Amuse Bouche, a little taste of the Climate Adaptation Conference to come. Held in the beautiful Fearrington Barn, Amuse Bouche features a panel discussion, delicious food and a chance to catch our breath before diving into an all-day event. Bob had been working hard for months as part of the planning committee. Volunteer Sabrina helped set up the food. It takes a village to bring awareness to climate change.
The best part is seeing all our friends like Haruka and Janice. Chef Bill and his trusty sidekick Helene put out a memorable spread. Yum!
PEPPER STARTS
Bob’s tobago pepper starts are thriving. Here he “pots them up” into a slightly bigger space. These peppers will be used by Fair Game Beverage Company to make their signature Flying Pepper Vodka.
NOLAN AND EMILY
Meanwhile, out in Colorado, Nolan thrives on Emily and Tyler’s love.
SPRING A SPRINGING
When redbuds bloom and mushrooms begin to sprout, you know hard weather is nearly done.
NEW ARRIVALS
Amy and Jasper and Osha arrived to brighten up Trouts Farm and Jason and Haruka received their new apprentice Doug. Lots of good energy at the bend!
PORCH POOCH
Osha soon made herself at home on the back porch and Bob companionably kept her company.
ZOILA’S BIRTHDAY
We helped Zoila celebrate her birthday with a neighborhood potluck.
THE MINT PROJECT
We knew better but let it happen. Never, never, never plant mint in anything but a container! See if you can find the peony in the first photo. No? Here is it, after hours of back challenging work. Heck, there were two!
COOKIE THE ERADICATOR
Young enough to weed for hours. Old enough to feel it. Two wheelbarrow loads of mint out and two of mulch in. This will never happen again. Mark our words.
AMY!
What a joy to have Amy around. She taught Camille the secret of great scones and drew long lost friends Barghav and Iris to our back yard to admire the paw paw blooms.
PIT STOP
Amy didn’t get far before realizing she had a flat and circled back for a change. Bob’s back told him about this job later. He’s not getting any younger either.
FREEBEE
Camille scored a vintage chair at the swap shop after hauling the trash to town. It was in good condition, comfy, light and fit in the trunk of the Escort so she brought it home to live on the front porch. Bob found a metal tag on the underside that said Vatne Mobler and did some research. One online auction house had it listed for $2,848.82 plus $1300 in shipping to the US. Their description:”Beautiful easy chair designed by Hans Olsen for CS Møbelfabrik in Denmark. This chair was designed in 1963 and is made of black leather with solid Rosewood feet.”
