WILD MUSHROOMS

Everywhere we look, wild mushrooms are popping up, including this poisonous bolete, below.

CULTIVATED MUSHROOMS

The burlap bags Bob and Rob infused with oyster mushroom mycelium are really coming on. The mycelium is running and the tiny mushrooms are popping out.

These perfectly tiny oysters are smaller than the tip of a finger!

MUSHROOM WORKSHOP

Bob gave a mushroom workshop through the Abundance Foundation on July 26. In addition to a comprehensive slide presentation, Bob provided attendees with valuable “hands on” experience in the form of drilling and plugging oak logs with mushroom spores. The logs were provided by Lyle and Tami who harvested them from an oak tree that toppled alongside their home. Knowing that it takes a certain period of time for the wood to season helped spur the decision to host a workshop six weeks later.

Participants, which included friend Ian Thomas on the left, each took home a plugged log and a baggie of inoculated sawdust. The workshop was well received and spurred a wave of compliments regarding Bob’s teaching and planning skills.
