SBS Bay Area Biodiesel “Hot Spots” Tour
January 31,2009
TEACHER WITH THE BUS
AKA ” Das Frachtgut”, this bus, fueled with 99.9% biodiesel was the perfect transportation for a tour of some Biodiesel facilities. The seating was especially designed to facilitate conversation and mobility among riders.
Michele Swiggers and Robin Gold were our hosts at Dogpatch Biofuels. Their outfit is so new, you can smell the paint drying!
Lots to see here! New tanks, new pump – you could see everyone dreaming about new equipment for their plants.
How clean it all looks!
AND THEY EVEN HAVE THEIR VERY OWN CONVENIENCE STORE!
Every fueling station should have one! Chris kisses up to the lady in charge.
BACK ON THE BUS
SF GREASECYCLE
The City of San Francisco decided to step into the 21st century in big way. They are now turning a locally produced waste stream into fuel themselves. And they have a cool new vacuum truck to help them do it.
There’s a lot to like about the design of this truck, note the steps that allow the driver to easily get to the top of the truck.
BIOFUELS OASIS
Set up in a great little building, Biofuels Oasis is a worker-owned cooperative.
Host, Jennifer Radtke speaks to the crowd of information hungry biodiesel fans.
Inside, the walls are finished adobe style using mud and horse manure. They even had a tiny diorama of their station!
