An uncharacteristically mild February with no drama and only one field trip. This month, it’s all about the green earth and its sentinels.
THE EARTH AWAKENS
Pussy Willows and Trout Lilies promise an early Spring. In years past, we have not seen Trout Lilies bloom until March.
DAFFODILS AND HYACINTH
Found next door and down the road on Chris’ grave.
YARD WORK
Bob added two roses to that garden he promised Camille. Camille took the day lilies he expunged and moved them to the godforsaken garden up front.
BIBLE BELT
Speaking of god, Praise Jesus. A reminder of where we live seen in the Walgreen’s parking lot.
BOB AND CARL
My two favorite guys. Not sure what Bob was counting but love that he’s wearing shorts in February. Before you know it, we’ll be growing avocado and breadfruit.
FORT ON THE FLOOD PLAIN
Turn left before the Turtle rock crossing on Stinking Creek to find the neighborhood kids’ latest rendition of Fort. Permanence is illusion, and they get this. Read more on our blog post, The Fort
PLAYLAND
We are delighted by neighborhood surprises like the whimsical music wall at Summer Shop, and Sparkroot’s milking goat herd. Camille gives Winnie of the irresistible ears an equine “handshake.”
FIELD TRIP
Betsy and Camille shared a nature walk with folks from the Grand Trees of Chatham and Triangle Land Conservancy. More at: White Pines Tree Hike
YOUTHFUL GLORY
Nolan’s enthusiasm for the natural world is balm for our souls – proof that youth is not always wasted on the young.
