A
TRIP TO ASHEVILLE TO SEE YONDER
February 6, 2011
ROOM WITH
A VIEW
Bob drove Camille,
Amy and Garth west for three and a half hours where we unfolded ourselves from
the car and took our bags up a room with a view of Asheville, the largest city
in Western North Carolina with a population close to 80,000.
EASILY
AMUSED
The room came
equipped with a large collection of pillows which made us laugh. We also
enjoyed the golden hues of the setting sun through the windows until we thought
to open them. That’s when we realized that the landscape had a lot more
color than we were seeing because the windows were tinted. And that also
amused us.
HIGH TIMES
Camille opened the
champagne with aplomb against a dizzying pattern of orange and green blotches
and splatters.
PREPARATIONS
A couple of
mimosas, a change of clothes and some glitter and we were all ready for dinner
and a concert.
SUN DOWN,
MOON SET
After the sun went
down, we went out on the town for pizza and a rip roaring good time at the
Orange Peel, jumping to the bluegrass jams of Yonder Mountain String Band.
When we returned to the hotel, we partied some more in jam afterglow until after
the moon set around 4am. The moon was mesmerizing! It was utterly on
its side and looked more like a UFO than anything normal. We watched as it
slowly slid into darkness behind the mountains and then we went to bed.
