TRAIL CRAWL 2011
March 27, 2011
In which we honor the tradition of walking through the woods to each other’s homes that Tami and Lyle started eleven years ago. This year, there were four hosts on the trail, each providing food an drink for the walkers – Susan and David, Megan, Tami and Lyle and Troutsfarm.
WALKING BUDDY
Bob and I stopped picked up Janice on our way through the woods to Susan and David’s house on a cold, gray Sunday. We weren’t sure if the creek would be too high to cross but we agreed to walk over and find out.
FALL AND SPRING
The woods still look like Fall with bare trees and fallen leaves but Susan’s beautiful flower garden, above was definitely bursting into Spring.
STINKING CREEK
Stinking Creek was high but not too high for this adventurous group. No one seems sure where Stinking Creek got it’s name and it has always smelled fresh to us. Some say the Indians cleaned their deer near the creek, leaving behind smelly carcasses but we find that highly unlikely. People who rely on creeks for water usually take pains to keep the water uncontaminated.
PBR’S AT MEGAN’S
Lyle took this classic photo from his phone of Bob enjoying a Pabst Blue Ribbon at Megan’s, the second stop on Trail Crawl. Megan used to be a park ranger and her home was filled with woodsy things.
LYLE AND TAMI
Hosts of the third stop and founders of this fun tradition, Lyle and Tami enjoyed some time together at Trouts Farm.
LAST STOP
This was our first year hosting Trail Crawl and at one point our home was filled with neighbors, some familiar, some new, all enjoying each other’s company. New friend, Basil, had donated home made beer, Camille prepared snacks and Bob made things pretty outside. It was all over too soon, leaving our immediate neighbors Jason, Garth and Amy to wind down the party.
