PHISHING IN RALEIGH WITH OUR GANG

PHISHING
IN RALEIGH WITH OUR GANG

A concert to remember

July 1, 2010

PARTY WITH
OUR PHRIENDS

This was our first
Phish concert.  This band has a huge following of fans much like the
Grateful Dead only instead of “deadheads” Phish fans are known as
phans, phriends, phamily, phiends or Phishheads.  Jason and Haruka are
serious Phishheads.  After this show, they followed the band to their next
three shows in Charlotte and Alpharetta, Georgia.

We pulled up into
the parking lot with a couple of thousand other Phish fans and did some
tailgating.  We brought snacks and drinks and there were plenty of vendors
cruising the parking lot, including an ice cream man which proved irresistible
to Haruka.   Then we climbed the steps to the
Time
Warner Cable Music Pavilion where Jill and Haruka paused for a picture.
Our group of phriends included Scott, Jill, PJ, Matt, Jason, Haruka and their
friends John and Thad.  David and Bonnie were there, too.

COOL
DRINKS

Bob and Jill enjoy
their fourteen dollar slushies which naturally, had some alcoholic content.

PERFECT
WEATHER FOR FUN

It was perfect
weather, warm, clear and dry.  Scott, Matt, Bob and PJ, in his chicken suit
are all enjoying each other’s company while waiting for the concert to begin.

GOLDEN
HOUR

The sun hit that
magic angle and bathed everyone in a golden light.  Camille liked the
Sheetz sign with it’s motto “Feel the Love” and laughed when she saw
she’d snapped a picture of it while this nice couple was doing exactly that.

EXPENSIVE
FOOD

We were glad we’d
brought food and drink for the parking lot because beer was between $9 and $16
and the cheapest food available was pretzels at $5 or a slice of pizza at
$6.   Security guards were on the lurk for problems and we did see
them carry a man out in a lawn chair later on in the evening.

LOTS OF
ROOM

After the concert
began, Bob and Camille relocated to the top of the hill where there was more
elbow room.  There was a great feel to the evening and the crowd and lots
of opportunities to take great photographs.  Jill was taken by the image of
us laying together on the lawn and took some very nice pictures.  Click on
the picture of us to see a larger image.

GLOWING

By the end of the
evening, we were glowing with phish music, phriendship and phun.  It was a
great evening!  We’re glad we went and glad we talked Jill into
going.  We had a lot of fun dancing and hanging out with our friends.
We loved the music, although most of it is new to us because Phish writes their
own songs.  On this magical evening, Phish also played covers of a two of
our favorites, Little Feat’s “Time Loves a Hero” and “Light Up Or
Leave Me Alone” by Traffic.
