BOB
AND CAMILLE AT HOME ON MAUI
CAT ON A HOT MOWER
Camille took a break after
mowing the lawn next door and returned to the mower to find the cat taking
advantage of the warm engine.
PEACE RALLY
On Saturday, October 26, Bob
and Camille joined the Maui Peace Action to show support for global protests
against a war on Iraq. For more photos, click on Peace
Rally.
CUT UPS
Bob shows off the ice cream
carton he cut up for the compost pile. Camille cut up nine nasty ni’oi
peppers (small, red, ferociously hot chilies) for use in a new beer we named
Nectar of Nine Ni’oi. What else is going on around the house and
garden? To find out, click on Around the
House
A PLANT TO KEEP THE GOBLINS
AWAY
But will it work on our
neighbor? Probably not. Anyway, Theresa’s not evil, she’s just
posing as the Angel of Death to celebrate Halloween two years ago.
This beautiful plant will join the others in the garden after it has rooted.
FINISHING TOUCHES
After two years of digging and
planting, we were inspired to plant a row of Ti plants at the top of our
cascading wave of asparagus ferns to give it that finished look it’s been
missing. Ti is generally planted to keep an area safe from Obake
(Hawaiian Ghosts) such as the Night Marchers. They say the Night
Marchers will walk around the house rather than through it if a row of Ti
plants are planted outside.
ONE OF THOSE MAGNIFICENT DAYS
October 12th was one of
those. Absolutely magic!
We’re spending a few hours a
month keeping the next door landscaping safe from molasses and cane grass.
THE FORD F450
Bob doesn’t have to share the
new truck anymore. His pride in his job shows in the care he takes of
this truck and the way he always makes sure to let people pull out ahead of
him in traffic.
VIETNAMESE PHO NOODLE SOUP
After all that playing around
in the kitchen, we managed to produce this; a vegetarian soup made with
tofu, udon noodles, ginger, basil, lemongrass, onion, carrots, soy sauce,
garlic, sweet peas and chard.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON – October 5
This is typical – horsing
around in the kitchen with champagne and sharp knives. Good thing
we’re grown ups!!!
MOUNTAIN OF GOLD
Truly one of the riches in our
life is this nourishing, natural fertilizer made from our household garbage.
