MODULAR GARDEN

MODULAR GARDEN

From May 8 to May 21, 2003

THE MODULAR GARDEN

I have always assumed that gardens were rooted to the earth as permanent fixtures but Bob recently
discovered that this is only an illusion. Within hours of receiving our notice to vacate, Bob began moving potted plants to a staging area. Shown here are hops, pohas, succulents, poinsettias, ti and mint.

GHOST GARDEN

Little by little, the garden began to disappear from Pi’iholo Road.  We either harvested or moved all the plants to pots. Camille stopped edging and the Kikuyu grass began closing in.

By the end of the month, there was little evidence of our 32 months on this property.

NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU
DON’T

Before: this garden plot as it looked on May 8th.

And After, on May 23rd.

THE OTHER END

The lettuce starts never missed a beat. Here they are in their new home on May 21, 1600 feet down the mountain and 10 degrees warmer.
