Granada

A TRIP TO THE OLD CITY

BOB AND CAMILLE IN GRANADA

March 10, 2005

ANGEL

Our adventure always begins with the arrival of Angel.

The road to Granada with the crater in the distance.

If you want to go to the bank in Granada, you must first allow this armed guard to pass his metal detector over you.

STREET DOGS

A common sight.

TOWN SQUARE

A pretty fountain graces the center of the plaza.

RIDING TO MARKET

Two on a bicycle as seen here is not uncommon. We saw three on a bike several times but were unable to catch the image. The market was crowded and close and yes, that is Bob on the far right side of the picture.

MARINA AT LAKE NICARAGUA

It didn’t take us long to burn out on the busy plaza with it’s armed guards, crowded markets, and urgent vendors. Angel drove us over to the lake for a coca cola and some peace and quiet.

We watched a snowy white great egret. It stands close to the water on the edge of the island on the right side of the picture, perched upon some dead branches.

SMALL WORLD

This boat came from Hollywood, California. On this day, the marina was a calm and relaxing place to be.  We enjoyed the symmetry of the stairs along the dock.

LOADING UP AND HEADING OUT

We watched this group of people load stuff from a bus into a boat and another group head out to the islands on the lake.
