BOB AND CAMILLE MAKING THEMSELVES AT HOME
CLEANING OUT THE FRAC TANK
Steve takes his turn in the tank. Capitalizing on warm weather, Bob, Eric and Steve cleaned out the rented tank and returned it, saving the company the exorbitant monthly rental fee.
ROAD TRIP
Bob volunteered to help Shaun move two new cars from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Bob took this photo of Shaun ahead of him from inside his car. For more on this story go to Cross Country Road Trip – Part I
A FEW DAYS LATER
They drove into Berthoud and spent the night. Shaun, always a welcome guest, relaxes before dinner on January 7th. And then Bob and Shaun got back in the cars and drove to California. See the photos at: Cross Country Road Trip – Part II
GOOD FRIENDS
Camille took the opportunity to spend the night with Shirley, her good friend of 25 years.
ART GALLERY
Shirley showed off some new additions to her art collection, walking sticks that have fallen under Fred’s artistic spell.
IF IT WERE A SNAKE, IT WOULD HAVE BIT YOU
This was my favorite because it looked so real.
SAYING GOODBYE TO A BYGONE ERA
In the morning, Shirley and Camille went over to Studio B for one last time. Shirley sold the building after many years of use as a recording studio and home.
ONE LAST LOOK
The studio and this tree, which Shirley planted years ago will eventually go the way of all things that stand in the way of progress.
URBAN TIGER
Amy stopped to pet this urban beast on our way to lunch.
TRES AMIGAS
Emily, Amy and Molly sit across the booth from us while we wait for lunch at a trendy downtown bistro on January 14.
LATER THAT AFTERNOON
Mahlon, Camille and Bob sat on Mahlon’s couch to watch the Broncos in the playoffs. Our mood started out good and got even better when our team won.
TREELESS
This lot lost four mature shade trees this month in the name of, you guessed it: progress. The developer fought to avoid paying the town the value of these trees as is the town policy. I’m still trying to track down the outcome. Stay tuned.
BUN IN THE OVEN
Joe gave Bob a cookbook put out by the restaurant they ate in while Bob and Shaun were in California. Using the book, Bob made this baked form of Seitan. Sliced, dipped in batter, breaded with Panko breadcrumbs and fried, it is YUMMY!
STOCK SHOW
Bob and Eric share a good spot in the sun while they chow down on their funnel cakes. For more Stock Show and Rodeo pictures, go to Looking at all the Animals
TORTILLA SOUP
On January 29th, Bob created this fantastic meal of soup and pico de gallo (beak of the cock) salad. The soup is tomato-based and blended with corn tortillas, then garnished with oven-fried corn tortilla strips, sour cream, cheddar cheese and black olives. Yum!
THIS MONTH’S QUOTES:
“One of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days it to go about repeating the very phrases which our Founding Fathers used in the struggle for independence.” – Charles Austin Beard
“There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.” – John Adams
