SCENES FROM A BLIZZARD
Bob and Camille weather a Winter Solstice Storm
December 20-21, 2006
WEDNESDAY EVENING
By nightfall, the snow had stopped falling. We took these pictures out the back door. Wonder how long it will be before we’re sunning ourselves on the deck again?
UP AND AT ‘EM!
Camille headed downstairs to clear the walk between our apartment and the Thrift Store.
While Bob forged a path through the drifts and across the railroad tracks to check on things at the Biodiesel plant.
DOORWAYS
On the left is the scene from the back door at the plant. If you look closely, you can see the one of the two cold frames that house Bob’s winter garden. On the right is the view from inside the Thrift Store.
TOM CLEARS THE WAY
Tom Jones spent most of the day clearing roads and driveways. Here he is in front of the Police Station after he finished plowing out the driveways at the Biodiesel Plant.
SNOW BUSINESS
Bob takes a work call on the fire escape, as snow slowly works its way down from the eaves above.
AND PLAY
In his usual impulsive manner, Bob flung himself into the deep snow to make a snow angel.
CARS
Camille assures Bob that there is really a car under this drift. A 1995 Ford Escort with one headlight, to be precise. We don’t expect to be driving until March or April, nor do we need to.
The only two cars buried in the parking lot behind our apartment were Sharon’s and ours.
Chop, across the street, shoveled until late and got up early to shovel some more. His car is buried beneath two or more feet of snow. But due to his determination and diligence, it was dug out by the time the snowplows opened up the street.
SNOW GODDESSES
Sharon and Grace negotiate the drifts for their early morning stroll. At the end of the day Liz’s aunt and a friend had created this buxom snow woman.
