GET YOUR PARTY HATS ON!
TENORIO is wearing his.
As is SCOOTER.
And, of course Cheryl’s good buddy, JAY.
And CODY!
Father and son spend some quality time with Code Red in order to help him overcome some of his distrust of men. Although the history is unclear, it is possible Cody was mistreated. He is standoffish in general, but especially so with men. It took a lot of patience and a few carrots to convince Cody to come up to his stall door on this day.
A FEW POINTERS
Bob and Sharyl give this young girl a few pointers about how to hold the lead rope before she takes one of the horses for a walk. Sharyl is saying, “You don’t want to loop the lead rope around your hand like this.” Good advice when you have an animal that weighs 1,000 pounds on the other end!
CATCHING UP
Julie, Lindie and Cheryl do a little catching up in the sun.
Lindie instructs one of the kids on how to handle Jay, who is looking quite festive in his party hat. All four children took turns leading Jay and Scooter around the barn and over a low jump. The adults took turns supplying pointers and advice.
PONY RIDES
Finally, the moment every child waits for. Jim holds Scooter as Sharyl prepares to boost one of the children onto his back. Jay stands by.
Jim is Scooter’s person.
TAKING TURNS
First Mikayla rode Jay and then Logan rode Scooter. Although there were two horses, they had to share one mother and one helmet.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
We all went inside where our hosts had put out a nice spread, including this fanciful birthday cake. It just isn’t a birthday without one!
