A WALK IN THE WOODS
On a beautiful fall day, we found some spare time to go exploring. The leaves are still green on the trees but the flowering smoke grass signals the end of winter with an explosion of seeds.
MUSHROOMS ARE EVERYWHERE
And they can be frightening in their beauty! These Amanita jacksonii found in Lyle’s woods are edible, but not choice. Most seasoned mushroom hunters avoid eating amanitas, so we followed suit.
We found these two “Split-a-part” Mushrooms outside our back door and thought they looked like us. Meanwhile, the pony logs Bob plugged with mushroom spawn a couple of months ago have only yielded wild fungus.
BACK IN THE WOODS WE FOUND
Umbrellas – cute, staid and fractured.
BUMPS ON LOGS
In shelves and in waves.
RUFFLES AND SLIME
Climbing up trees and clinging to the sides of fallen limbs.
