Bob and Camille Armantrout, a.k.a. “The Trouts,” met, fell in love, and were married in Loveland, Colorado in the early ’90s.

Within a couple of years, a combination of work and wanderlust spirited them out of state, then out of country, and finally off the continent. Sixteen homes in twenty-two moves across six states, five countries, and one U.S. territory.

Bob created their web presence during an idle spell on Guam in 1999 as a place to share their thoughts and photos.

Camille spent most of her formative years in New Jersey and New York and hitchhiked across the country after graduating from high school. Bob grew up in New Orleans and Accra, Ghana and went to high school at The American School in Switzerland in Lugano.

As far as they can tell, their traveling days are behind them. Sure, they sometimes pull on their tourist garb and join a cattle queue at a boarding gate, but that is not at all like living and working in a different language, culture, and climate.

The Trouts moved to North Carolina in 2007 and two years later bought a house on a couple of acres in an informal community of neighborly friends. Ultimately, they retired to work their gardens, eat, sleep, read, and reminisce. You might find them sitting in their front porch rockers, spitting and telling lies.
