 BANANA BAG

Bob weighs in  to
determine how many pounds of groceries our new Abaca Reusable Market Bag
will hold.

Here are the 38 pounds of
groceries that we stuffed into our new grocery bag.  These are the
kinds of things people who don’t watch TV do with their spare time.
The bag is made from the leaf and stalk fibers of the Abaca banana/plantain
plant and retails for $9 at AbundantEarth.com.

SPRING CLEANING IN OCTOBER

Another fun thing to do with
spare time is tear apart a room and put it back together again.  It’s
cheaper than buying new furniture and easier than moving.  On October
21st, we washed the windows and all the bedding, curtains, and cloth doors
and took the furniture outside for a good dusting.  Bob fixed the
headboard and shined up the kerosene lamps while the curtains dried out on
the lawn.

NEW RECYCLING PLATFORM

Mr. Machete and The Shoveler
a.k.a. Bob carved a spot to stage our home recycling bins on October
19th.  He “floored” it with cardboard that he had brought
home from a recycling route.  It is really nice, smooth cardboard and
we have a big stack it in the laundry room shed.  We also used it as
flooring in our laundry room and it’s crossed our minds that we could use
this type of material to build our own yurt someday as opposed to buying one
made of plastic.

ALL TUCKED IN

Meanwhile, our vegetable
garden steadily grows herbs and greens for dinner.
