A
BIRTHDAY STROLL THROUGH BROOKSIDE GARDENS
June 4, 2011
THE THREE
On June 4th, which
happened to be Camille’s 57th birthday, Bob, Ned and Camille indulged themselves
with a leisurely stroll through the beautifully tended greenhouses, wooded
paths, lawns and gardens at Brookside
Gardens. It was the first time for all of us and perhaps not the last!
SANCTUARY
We loved the
message on this stone which read, “Linger here and reflect on those lost to
violence, hope for a more peaceful world, seek a reverence for life among all
people.” And indeed, the gardens were a peaceful sanctuary for us and
all the other happy life forms we encountered.
Frankly, we were
blown away by this award-winning 50-acre public display garden! Every
twist and turn beckoned, promising peace and tranquility.
INSPIRATION
The combinations
were inspiring. We ended up taking more than 100 photos of gardens we’d
like to reproduce at home but managed to choose a handful to feature on this page!
BOON
COMPANIONS
Oh these
two! Bob and Ned have been friends for forever and it shows. We had
a running joke about Camille’s pink water bottle which Ned graciously offered to
carry. It takes a real man, you know.
IRRESISTIBLE
This
maze is designed for contemplative strolling. While Bob was following the
path, three young girls tackled the maze with joyful energy. Their giggles
were infectious.
ART ON A
STALK
The plants were so
healthy and unique that some of them looked as if they had created in an art
studio!
