FORK
Kicking off
another delicious season with Edible Earthscapes Winter CSA
(Community Supported Agriculture). Our first share included pink daikon radish,
purple sweet potatoes, carrots, lettuce and greens. Here’s a sample of the meals
we pull together from our CSA boxes: locally grown rice, greens and quorn
“chicken’ patties with sweet chili sauce.
BLAZING
THE TRAILS
On December 18th,
Sharon, Barbara and Camille did a little trail exploration over by the lake.
Blaze orange is the appropriate color during hunting season (September 15th –
December 31st). Barbara is an accomplished seamstress and sewed the blaze orange

Jenn and Matt, our
friends at Dickinson College Farm, spent a night at Trouts Farm on their way to
a biking holiday in Florida. Naturally, Jason welcomed them for a tour of Edible
Earthscapes which included the greenhouse and the construction of a root cellar.
SPOT NEVER
GETS LONELY
Between Matt and
Jenn who mistook him for one of their Holsteins and tried to milk him, and Karen
and Larry who just loved on him, Spot got plenty of attention this month.

FEED THEM, THEY WILL RETURN
As part of our
plan to lure Karen and Larry to the Piedmont area, we put them up for a couple
of nights and fed them Okonomiyaki. There is more about these unique folks and

TURNING
SWEAT INTO WINE(CAPS)
Tami and Lyle are
clearing a spot for a new home and decided to bring some of the wood chips to
Trouts Farm for use in making a mushroom garden. You’ll find the whole story on

CHRISTMAS
DINNER
Although we tried
not to go overboard, this meals looks appropriately lavish for Christmas day.
After dining at Jason and Haruka’s on tofurky, mashed potatoes, gravy, greens
and roasted vegetables, we walked through the woods bearing champagne and
cookies to Lyle and Tami’s for the customary games of crokinole. Between the
mushroom garden, food, drink, exercise and friendship, it was a perfect day in
every way.
