<\/a><\/p>\nJenn and Kam string lights inside the tent in preparation for Sparkroot Farm’s<\/a> debut event, a two-day workshop on Learning Elderhood, while Bob sets up the Use Yer Foot<\/a> hand wash stations. Sparkroot Farm is the brainchild of our neighbor, Alisa, and their fiscal sponsor is Tami’s nonprofit, Abundance NC<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Former neighbors (and hopefully, future), Matt and Dana, stopped in at The Plant and introduced us to their new son, Gael.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Due to another mild fall season, we saw hydrangeas, azaleas, daisies, and roses in bloom during the same week. Camille picked this bouquet on November 5th.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Camille brought in a nice haul of ripe peppers well before the first frost. Bob began digging up his fine-looking ginger.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This is what ginger looks in the ground and uprooted, and turmeric and ginger rinsed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year, Bob has done all the ginger and turmeric processing. He cleans the roots, scraping away the tougher bits, then processes it before freezing in tablespoons.\u00a0 He has also found a market for cleaned, unprocessed ginger with local kombucha brewers,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n From root to ready-to-use!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We probably mentioned this before, but food is super fun, and we love to eat! On the left are fried green tomatoes from Shelley’s garden. On the right, our Thanksgiving tofurky roast, and Vegan Chestnut Sausage Dressing<\/a> adapted from Camille’s Nana’s recipe. Mm..Mmmm.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bob drove down to South Carolina with Rose to fetch some fresh-squeezed sugar cane juice for Fair Game Beverage Company. <\/p>\n And Ed, and Arlo, and Uncle Glen…<\/p>\n Emily, Lindsey, Michael<\/p>\n Tatyana, George, Michael (again), Aunt Joyce and Jordan (preparing the dessert table).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lucky us, to be included as part of the family!!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nolan turned two years old on November 19, and his parents, Emily and Tyler made sure he had a whopper of a party.<\/p>\n THIS MONTH’S QUOTES:<\/span><\/p>\n “I didn’t feel sorry for him at all.
