Amy and Jeremy\u00a0venture\u00a0into the Eastern Region to meet up with Laura and friends for\u00a0some\u00a0camping – March 29-31, 2013<\/span><\/p>\n

MOUNT ODWEANOMAA<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We set up camp at the base of this beautiful mountain in an area well grazed by cattle herds that pass through.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

EARLY MORNING<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"earlymorning2\"<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\"earlymorning1\"<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Such a lovely morning, waking to the waning\u00a0moon and some beautiful clouds just before the sunrise.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SOME TREE FRIENDS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy was\u00a0of course very pleased to be among so much plant life.<\/span><\/p>\n

TO THE TOP!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We trekked up the mountain to spend the day climbing Buruku, the\u00a0rock formation\u00a0at the top. The first picture is the view from about halfway through the hike, where we stopped to take in the view before continuing up the ridge. You can see we were all happy to have reached the top!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL ROCKS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The rocks at the top were incredible, Amy couldn’t believe the patterns on these two in particular.<\/span><\/p>\n

LAKE VOLTA<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The views of Lake Volta were breathtaking. Amy spent the day drinking them in from a perch opposite Buruku.<\/span><\/p>\n

UP THEY GO..<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy enjoyed the space and energy under this incredible tree that is growing up through the boulders for most of the day. Being on the other side of the mountain, it provided a most wonderful view of her friends climbing one by one to the top of Buruku.<\/span><\/p>\n

RACING THE SUN<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We were thankful to be headed down the mountain after a wonderful day, slightly racing the sun since the path is sometimes pretty unclear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not a bad way to spend this celebrated\u00a0morning, surrounded by\u00a0such beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n

WORKING HARD<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We packed up at sunrise to get a start on the day at the paragliding festival. Noticing that some other creatures were also hard at work, we all had to take a moment to check out this termite mound under construction.<\/span><\/p>\n

GHANA PARAGLIDING FESTIVAL<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We headed back into the madness of Easter Sunday in Mpraeso and up the mountain to the paragliding festival. What an interesting experience. Our group found this shady spot on the edge of the forest to be quite a relief from the sun and crowd. After lots of waiting and confusion, Amy actually got\u00a0a chance to\u00a0paraglide, thanks to some very persistent friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SOARING WITH THE HAWKS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"flying\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What an unforgettable experience; pictures don’t quite do it justice. (Also I was scared to drop the camera!) Unfortunately these clouds grew quickly and none of the rest of the group got a chance to fly as they called off the rest of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rain began to fall as we made our way down the mountain, said our goodbyes to our new friends, and hopped on a tro back to Kumasi..<\/span><\/p>\n
