The crops our friends are growing next door range from conventional (tomatoes, cucumbers) to unexpected (burdock root, rice and lotus.) The rice paddies make a nice home for frogs and turtles, too.<\/p>\n

IRRESISTIBLE<\/h3>\n

This sight sent Camille back up the hill for the camera. For sake of scale, the bee measures over an inch in length.<\/p>\n

EXOTIC BEAUTY<\/h3>\n

The lotus blends mammoth leaves, heavy pods,\u00a0graceful stems and flowers that dance on the breeze.<\/p>\n

The rice is high and there has been another flush of blooms.<\/p>\n

The pods are mesmerizing and the young seeds edible, but most folks eat the lotus root.<\/p>\n
