SPRINGTIME
WITH NEIGHBORS

March 2012

SPRING FEVER

Cute little Kome,
Jason and Haruka’s grey kitty, shows of the rice-shaped spot on her throat as
she decides she’s had enough of Amy’s arms. Kome is the Japanese word for rice.
The beautiful March weather made it difficult to stay inside the house. Amy,
Garth, Molly, Shane, Jason and Haruka were of the same mind so on this day we
all headed off into the woods.

THE NEW
HOUSE NEXT DOOR

Progress is
happening! Lyle and Tami plan to move into their new home by the diving pond in
the Fall. Shane points to something, Bob ponders the construction and Jason
walks the thin path from the pylons.

POLEHENGE

What is now
I-beams and telephone poles will someday be a deck and we’re all looking forward
to watching someone dive into the water from it.

SITTING
AROUND

Jason enjoys a one
seater stump. Haruka and her friend Asami sit next to the clay encrusted root
ball of a fallen giant.

SPECTACULAR!

The sky really was
this blue and this was only one blue-sky day of many in March. No polarizing
filter, no photo shopping – just blue, blue, blue!

SHAPE AND
TEXTURE

The woods are
always fascinating, full of color, shape and texture. Jason is framed by the
splayed weathered roots of a former forest sentinel. We all admired the delicate
interplay of mushroom, moss and lichen in this little patch of green.

FIRST
POTLUCK AT TAMI AND LYLE’S NEW HOME

Matt proposed
brunch with mutual friend Frankie who was down from DC for a couple of days and
Lyle offered to host it on the foundation of the new house. He drove down with
tables and chairs in the red dodge, his work horse of a truck that Camille affectionately
calls "Ruby."

THE SET UP

Dana, Lyle,
Frankie and Matt set up the breakfast nook atop the foundation.

EGGS ON
THE WAY

Tami and Dana
brought flowers and eggs from the house. In her scramble, Tami tripped and
scraped her knee!

CINNAMON
BUNS!

Arlo baked and
delivered a platter of sweet, steaming cinnamon buns!

GOOD TIMES

What a great way
to spend some quality time with Frankie, Tami and Lyle and Matt and Dana!
