A
SUNDAY WALK
CAMILLE
TAKES A LITTLE JAUNT AROUND THE
NEIGHBORHOOD
On
October 3, 2004
I like to walk
down Makawao Avenue to Kealaloa Street and up towards the open pastures on
Haleakala.
I usually
leave before 9am and often see animals enjoying their breakfasts.
I walk by lush
pastures and meticulously groomed estates.
I stood by the
fence and made the cattle suspicious.
They
disappeared into the trees.
On this day,
the hala were fruiting.
I saw Molokai
peeking out from behind west Maui.
I saw the
moon.
West Maui was
wearing a jaunty cloud cap.
Olinda Road
can be a very shady place.
An hour later
I was home again.
