EVERY DAY WALK

Camille and Sharon just walking around town

August 22, 2006

BUDDIES

Sharon and Camille meet in the stairwell five mornings a week to go for a walk together.  Regardless of the weather and wildlife or lack thereof, they always have a good time telling each other stories and making each other laugh.

A FAMILIAR FACE

On this particular morning, they saw Misty on her way to work.

 TREE-LINED STREETS

It is the wonderful trees that make this a walking town.

A FAT SQUIRREL

By this time of year, the squirrels have put on a nice layer of fat in preparation for winter.

EATING ON THE RUN

This plucky fellow went racing down the sidewalk with a piece of food in its mouth.

THREE MILES LATER, THEY REACHED THE POND

Sharon is looking for her friend, June.

JULY AND AUGUST

July, a lone seagull who was once mistaken for a duck, swims in his usual spot while, in the foreground, a cormorant named August prepares to eat the fish he just caught.  For a closer look at the cormorant, click on the photo.

AHHHHHHHH, THERE SHE IS!

We are assuming that June is a female duck until we figure out how to catch her and find out for sure.  How can you tell?  Well, it's a tricky business.  Read more about it here.

YOU NEVER KNOW

A few days later, we saw this colorful moth.  We never know WHAT we're going to see on our walks!  This turned out to be a Harnessed Moth or Apantesis phalerata.
