SUSI AND JOE THROW A BON VOYAGE PARTY FOR BOB AND CAMILLE

December 5, 2004

A HAPPY COUPLE

Joe and Susi are one of the happiest couples we know. They graciously invited us over for a going away dinner party with James and Wilma and the six of us had a very relaxing evening in their beautiful home.

FUCHSIA

The center of their household, Susi confessed, is Fuchsia, their 24-year-old cockatiel. Due to an old injury, he is incapable of producing much of a tail. What he lacks in plumage, he makes up for in good manners. Susi pointed out that he did not have any of the bad habits common to other cockatiels.

SAY GOODNIGHT

When we were finished playing with Fuchsia, he climbed his ladder and went to bed.

THE VIEW FROM THE DINING ROOM

You can see much of Central and West Maui from this window in the dining room.

DINNER PARTY

Susi and Joe served up a wonderful meal with help from Wilma and James. The picture we took of Wilma and James did not come out (sorry you two!) We had a fresh green salad and curried mung beans and rice. We played a game called “The Cube”  over dinner in which we each took turns describing an imaginary landscape and talking about what our vision might mean about our state of mind. The beans were so good, we all asked Susi to copy her recipe for us, which she did.

THE ICING ON THE CAKE

Bob and I each ate two pieces of this delicious white cake with liliqoi and coconut frosting. Susi was a little embarrassed that the letters ran together but we didn’t mind. In case you can’t make it out, it says; “Bon
Voyage, Camille and Bob.”

MAUI RECYCLING SERVICE FAREWELL PARTY

We were invited to Rick’s (center) farewell party at the Ale house. From left are Camille, Pamela, Bob, Rick, Ruben, Shaun and Kaimona.

And a good time was had by all.

LAST DAYS AT HO’OKIPA HALE

In which Aline roasted peppers for dinner.

1967 MALIBU

And Ron showed Bob his engine.

Four years ago, we stayed with Ron and Aline while moving onto Maui so it seemed fitting to stay with them as we were leaving.
