Another fun month featuring mushrooms, house guests, a biodiesel conference, one happy piece of yard art and an uplifting memorial.
FUNGUS AMONG US
August was a surprisingly big mushroom month. See what we saw at Mushrooms and More
THAT FAITHFUL FRIGIDAIRE
She’s always there when you need a pick me up or a glass of home made limoncello. Never mind the Medusa on the postcard we mailed ourselves from Florence who looks aghast every time you open the door.
LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER
Idling away the days with our most favorite house guests ever – Graydon and Glenn. Harvesting the bounty of spring plantings with bowls of leeks and peppers.
BLANCHE THE WORK TRUCK
Bob uses his 1987 Mercedes touring wagon like a contractor’s truck. He and Malcolm designed and built a band shell cover to protect musical equipment in the event of rain.
BIODIESEL LOVE FEST
We’d been planning for the 2014 Collective Biodiesel Conference for months and finally the day arrived when we would see a parking lot full of cars running on veggie oil. Blanche companionably chews the fat with her sister wagon.
And motorcycles too, such as Wole’s nice ride.
THE PLACE WAS LIT UP
The setting sun lights up a beautiful aluminum sculpture of reeds in a fecund pond and a couple of hours later, the viewing stand over the campground was also aglo.
COLLECTIVE BIODIESEL CONFERENCE
Thank you Graydon for sharing your photo with us. Nearly everyone associated with the conference made their way into this photo.
SPOT HAD A HEY DAY THIS MONTH
It was almost like Christmas for Spot with so many new friends to meet. Graydon flashes his winning smile and Glenn puts up his equine friendly ears.
Jonathan is the first to think of feeding a treat to our yard art and as you can see, Spot is rolling his eyes with pleasure. And Brian is the first to give Spot a slap to see if he’ll run off.
Dara and his darling dog Shkye.
New neighbor Buffy channels a celestial force.
AUNT JEANETTE’S MEMORIAL
A somber event turned joyful when our amazing family got together to pay tribute to Jeanette’s life. There are more family pictures on this page: Aunt Jeanette’s Memorial

THIS MONTH’S QUOTES:
“Though we become hysterical at the thought that someone might bomb us, bombs that we explode elsewhere, in the little countries far away, are just theater, of small consequence, another public performance of our White House, the event factory. – Paul Theroux from Dark Star Safari, 2002
“At times I feel waves of love pouring down on me from above, I used to be certain that this was the presence of God. Now I think: Maybe I’m just happy.” – Sparrow
“You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity.” – M. Gustave from the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel
