Another Spring, another Shakori Spring Grassroots Music Festival – May 7, 2016
HAVE CHAIR WILL TRAVEL
Bob’s got the Shakori thing down to a science. He fills the back pocket of his lawn chair with Shakori shooters and a few other necessities and walks in, finds the right spot, and has a sit.
TOUR BUSES AND YARN BOMBS
Bands and campers are essential to the Shakori experience.
MUD
Spring or fall, it always seems to rain before and/or during the festival making mud another signature Shakori component.
MUSIC AND REFRESHMENTS
Nearly three dozen bands across four stages and dozens of vendors. Coffee is integral to Shakori’s success.
FRIENDS
Friends are fundamental to the festival. We hung out with Shelley, her three lovely daughters, and their beaus.
FLAT LINE
Camille thought a flatline was something that happened when the ICU machine stopped picking up your heartbeat. Turns out it’s a piece of webbing strung between two stationary objects like a tightrope. Shelley was telling us about this guy who was able to walk the line with a beer in his hand and moments later elbowed me, saying, “There he is!” His pretty wife showed us how it was done with support from her man while Shelley tried to decide if she would give it a try.
And then she was up! Afterwards, she told us it’s much harder than it looks because the line starts to shake from side to side once you pick up a foot.
FEAST FOR THE EYES
Rain or shine, Shakori is colorful, fun, and good listening.
