Sparkroot

A visit to Sparkroot Farm with Adam and Zara – March 11, 2017

HELPFUL PAIR

Zara and Adam expressed interest in the goings on at The Plant volunteered to help Camille prune blueberries. Thinking they might like to see what’s going on over in our neighborhood, we made plans to introduce them to Alisa and Jay.

SPARKROOT FARM

After lunch at Trouts Farm, we hiked over to the asparagus field to meet Sparkroot’s farm manager, Jay.

Zara was understandably taken with this quartet of piglets. Inquisitively cautious, they are intelligent little fellows brimming with purpose.

COSTA RICA

Our new friends chatted with Alisa and Jay outside the milking barn before walking back to our house. Most everything has a name around here. Costa Rica is the name given to the Latin-style front porch outside the milking barn.

PLEASING TO THE EYE

Three are many eye-catching and whimsical features at Alisa’s home, such as this trio of mushrooms and a well-seasoned camellia.

CAMELLIA ENVY

Someday Camille will have camellias in her yard. Until then, she knows where to find her namesake with its brilliant deep pink Spring blooms.

BRINGING OUT THE KIDS

It never takes long before visitors find their way into the goat pen. Alisa is happy to share her little darlings with fellow kid lovers.

AND OF COURSE, WINNIE

We never tire of those wonderful ears and Winnie’s wuffling donkey wail.
