Chick Pea Patties

Chick Pea Patties

Nuts, ground – 1/2 cup
Fresh Veggies, chopped (onion, garlic, peppers) – 1/2 cup
Chick peas, cooked and pureed – 4 cups
Tamari (soy sauce) – 1 to 2 Tablespoons
Egg Replacer (ground flax seed) – 1/4 cup
Flour – 1/4 cup
Cumin – 1 Tablespoon
Cayenne, hot sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder to taste and optional – use your imagination!

In a food processor, grind nuts, add veggies and process some more. Remove nuts and veggie mixture and process chick peas with Tamari, using as little pea liquid as possible to make more of a paste than a puree.

Pan fry in hot oil, spreading the batter into a thin pancake after dropping a large spoonful into the hot oil. Rotate to brown evenly and flip when edges are all browned. Top with sauce or gravy and enjoy!

Tips:
I’ve used roasted peanuts and toasted tamari almonds.
Any oil works but these are especially nice fried in coconut oil.
You can eliminate fresh veggies and use the powdered versions instead.
Add salt if you don’t have Tamari
