A ROMP THROUGH THE ART MUSEUM WITH SHIRLEY

March 25, 2007

SHIRLEY LOVES ART

Whether it be amusing or mesmerizing.

OR STRANGE

Well, it doesn't get much stranger than Hieronymous Bosch.

Or this man made from vegetables.  Or these unsettling masked sculptures.

OR SIMPLY SUBLIME

Childhood Idyll, by William-Adolphe Bouguereau was one of Camille's favorites.

GOT RELIGION?

Pretty creepy stuff - especially the loin-clothed icon with the darts sticking out of his skin!

HEY, IT'S A GIANT ASHTRAY!

Sometimes art is all about the response of the viewer and this viewer's response is "Ewwwwwwwww!"

AMERICAN INDIAN ART

All three of us loved this collection.  The pot on the left was one of Bob's favorites.

The attention to detail on these tiny pots was extraordinary.

THE THINGS I HAVE TO DO TO MAINTAIN MYSELF

The sculpture of a being sewing up his/her right horn really captured Camille's imagination as did the title, above.  The painting on the right was also quite appealing.

TINY HORSE HAIR BASKETS

Simply amazing what a person can create from a few strands of hair!  The little basket on the right was no more than an inch in diameter.

AND THEN THE CRUPPER GOES BACK HERE...

Camille explains the finer points of tack utility to Shirley who does a fine job of staying engaged.

A TRIP DOWN THE COLORADO RIVER

One whole wall was dedicated to this fascinating series of beautiful watercolors describing the various stops along a 200 and some mile rafting trip.

ROUND AND ROUND

Round is a very pleasing shape as demonstrated by this lizard pot and Madonna and Child.

NO LINES

This piece of art caught Bob's eye because the artist used shading, rather than line to create the image.

COOKIE IN A RED HAT

Bob likes to take pictures of Camille in costume and no one is really sure why.
