Around the house and garden with some fun masks thrown in for good measure – April, 2013 Kumsasi, Ghana
DRESSING UP
Eric wears his new fugu, Amy a piece of fabric acquired at Central Market and Bob a new shirt he had made at the Cultural Center. Bob picked up another interesting mask which Eric couldn’t help but try on.
ADVENTURES IN HOUSEKEEPING
Camille keeps herself busy by keeping house. She used the mesh sleeve that garlic comes in to rig up a hand washing station outside the house. While cleaning an upstairs bedroom for Rob’s stay, she discovered a cache of harmattan dirt in the closet.
ERIC AND LINDA
Eric and Linda stopped by with their three children, Maame, Louis and Vital (aka VK) on Sunday to say hello and deliver a full tank of propane.
MAAME
From all accounts, Maame is a force of nature poised to take the world by storm.
STATE OF THE BARNYARD
The two red roosters, Ebeneezer and Harry left the yard for greener pastures soon after this photo was taken, leaving Nugget uncontested as Cock of the Walk.
HATCHING A BROOD
Shakori sits patiently on seven eggs in the space beneath the stairs to our kitchen, waiting for them to hatch. For three weeks, she will resign herself to this dark room, only leaving the eggs once a day to eat and drink.
NATURAL LEADERS
Chickasaurus and Nugget are natural leaders. We wonder if the fluff atop Chickasaurus’s head has anything to do with her elevated status among the other hens.
AROUND THE HOUSE
Two miscellaneous pictures. A brightly patterned moth on the screen outside the upstairs deck. The voltage regulator we installed downstairs to keep the erratic surges in power from Ghana Electric from frying our washing machine and refrigerator showing power coming in at 110 volts when it should be 220.
MORE MASK FUN
Bob bought this very cool round mask for Camille after she admired it greatly.
GUESS WHO?
Amy, Justin and Rob all chose a different approach towards holding Camille’s favorite mask in front of their faces.
