NED'S NEIGHBORHOOD

In which Ned shares his home, family and neighborhood

May 17-18, 2008

ENJOYING NED'S BACK YARD

It was a perfect day to enjoy the expansive lawn behind Ned's house.  Bob and Ned fetched a  ping pong table and set it up and Camille threw  together some food.  Ned's son Grant dropped by with his little brother and sister. Grant then proceeded to beat the adults at ping pong.  Just as the sky was getting dark, we remembered to take a photo.

THE NEXT DAY

Bob shows off his sock and sandal look.

Ned took us for a walk along the river which was swollen with water from the Spring rains.

Camille encountered a giant plastic Hereford in a neighbor's yard.

THE GOOD

This home is beautiful to look at and sends the message, "Welcome! Come on in."  The owner obviously has a big heart and a healthy sense of pride.

THE BAD

Bad things happen when trees fall on houses.  If you look closely, you will see the house beneath this massive tree.

THE UGLY

No part of this monstrosity either welcomes or pleases the eye of the passer by.  This ugly wall, unmitigated by landscaping other than a pair of dead potted plants, surrounds a private courtyard and comes to within a few feet of the property line on either side.  There is no other way to interpret the message these homeowners are sending than, "We hate you - keep out!"
