Kevin Russell and Shiney Ribst started out the set and then the rest of the band came onstage and got everyone out on the dance floor.
Jimmy Smith, Kevin Russell and Max Johnston are all excellent musicians. Max Johnston's sister is Michelle Shocked. We found this out when we saw Michelle and the Gourds play together in Boulder, Colorado a couple of years ago.
Adah and Jack enjoyed the music and the dancing. This was Adah's first concert.
SHAKORI HILLS SPRING MUSIC FESTIVAL
Ahhh - what better way to celebrate spring on Earth Day weekend than hanging out at the Spring Shakori Hills Music Festival. This happens twice a year and resembles a mini-Woodstock. This spring there were sixty eight bands on the schedule.
The tone of this event is both energized and languid. It isn't unusual to come across a drum circle in the woods. Many of the festival goers camped out, either in tents or vehicles.
Hundreds of people from every walk of life attend the festival in complete harmony, sending us home with revitalized hope in humanity.
